Veterans VA5K


Middays host Deidre Ransdell has found a great way for you to plug in and help this fall in Kentucky……The Veteran’s VA5K Race!!!!

Due to social distancing, you can run or walk the race in your own time, in your own neighborhood, favorite park, or running trail. We hope you will join us and encourage your friends, co-workers, family members and even CHALLENGE others to make a difference for our Veterans!  Deidre may even announce your challenge Shout-Out on the radio!!  Sign up today at  then TEXT in your name and your challenge to 859-280-2929!!

The virtual event will happen on the weekend of Nov. 7-8, 2020.  RaceJoy is included with your registration and will track your progress and timing, then will automatically upload your results into our race website. All proceeds from the race will be divided between the Friends of the Lexington Fisher House construction project and our veterans at the Lexington VA health care system.

The Fisher House will serve veterans’ families by providing a safe, supportive, and loving comfort home away from home at no cost while their loved one is receiving treatment at the Lexington VA medical centers. The 13,400 square foot house will feature 16 private suites with a common kitchen, dining, and living area. It is estimated the house will save families $600,000 in lodging and transportation and provide up to 5,840 lodging days annually.  The house will be gifted by the Fisher House Foundation to the VA Hospital upon completion of construction. Fisher House-a home for families of veterans in treatment at the VA Hospitals in Lexington.  Groundbreaking is scheduled for the fall of 2020 at Lexington VA Health Care System, Franklin R. Sousley Campus at 2250 Leestown Rd. Lexington, KY

The veterans VA5K 2020 shirt was designed by the very talented Scott County High School Senior Allie Viney, who also designed our 2019 shirt, as well as the 2018 Governor’s Kentucky Derby Poster.

$38 for adults and $20 for under 18 plus taxes and fees. Race results will be available starting Monday, Nov. 9.
